Resume

Objective: To teach dyeing, spinning, and other fiber techniques that can easily be incorporated into busy schedules for fiber artists with few stretches of uninterrupted time.

Philosophy: An attorney and CPA by profession, mother of four, and on-call for elderly parents, Linda epitomizes the “sandwich generation.” After exploring many techniques, Linda focuses on projects that although creative in their development, can be completed when distracted, interrupted, in cars, in hospitals and on airplanes. Never happy to use other’s yarns or designs, her work is colorful and creative and features “faux hard” techniques. Still mad about spinning after all these years, Linda loves to spin and dye the self-striping yarns that automatically create patterns in the knitting or weaving

Fiber background: Originally a sheep breeder, Linda started spinning, dyeing, weaving, and knitting over 20 years ago. A self-professed workshop junkie, she has taken as many classes in her state and across the nation as she could fit into her schedule. From projects, guild functions, and classes from well-known teachers, she has incorporated techniques from a lot of different fiber disciplines into her work. An accomplished spinner, dyer, and knitter, Linda also weaves, does punch needle embroidery, makes baskets, and braids with kumihimo.

Color background: Linda’s color training has come exclusively from fiber artists and her artist husband. Since color is the most important element in successful fiber designs, she incorporates color design principals into every class she teaches.

Teaching activities: In addition to teaching at guilds and knitting stores in Montana, Wyoming, and Idaho, Linda has taught at Estes Park Wool Market in Colorado, Snake River Fiber Fest, Rocky Mountain Sewing Festival, SOAR for Interweave Press, the Association of Northwest Weavers Guilds (ANWG), Olds College,  and Montana Association of Weavers and Spinners conferences (MAWS). Linda also juries fiber art shows and writes articles for periodicals.

Other interests: Linda is an avid gardener, reader, pet lover, and enjoys following her four kids’ and husband’s activities and has been on the board of Montana Association of Weavers and Spinners for many years. She is currently the Membership Chair for ANWG and Vice President of the Board of the Yellowstone Art Museum.
